Friend bought 570S, friend traded 570S for new 570S (it’s a story for VinWiki and another day) . Here are pictures of said new 570S arriving.
I am happy for him, this is just what he wanted, and is a beautiful car.

That’s what I figured. But at first I was like “My house is nicer than that, WTF?”. But yes, if it’s an expensive area *cough* Bay area *cough* I could see someone living in a “modest” house but driving a car like that

Having money doesn’t come with the requirement that you spend it on particular things. If I started making millions of dollars a year all of a sudden tomorrow I think I would still see through the lease on my one bedroom townhome, and probably move to something a little nicer but similarly sized when it’s up. I just don’t need or really want any more space. My Tacoma would become the overland build of my dreams and probably be demoted to the driveway by some awesome friends in the garage but why pour money into the structure I spend nights and the occasional weekend in?

Did he trade a coupe for a spyder... that seems like a good trade.
Ever since the spyder came out with the folding roof option (the only McLaren to have it...) the notch-back fixed-roof 570S coupe seemed redundant against the folding-roof spyder, or the sleeker, more practical 570GT.
T hen 600LT became the lightweight track-day toy, and 540C became the budget option... the regular notch-roof 570S coupe kind of lost it’s purpose. it just kind of hangs out in the midst of the Sport Series lineup... while all the rest of them have a better angle.
570GT for touring, 570 Spyder for optional top-down motoring, but no big penalties over the 570S when the roof is up. 540C for budget conscious buyers or displacement/power-tarriff markets, and 600LT for a performance and aero boost for the track, short of the Super series 720S, and above.

He traded an orange 570S spyder for an Orange 570S spyder... This one is lighter orange tho, if that matters.

McLaren racing orange is what the new one appears to be... and with a bit of variation was a common color for Bruce McLaren to paint his race cars... glossy, but non-metallic... basically “Grabber Orange”. This one looks almost yellow, where other examples were closer to pumpkin color.
He probably traded away a Volcano Orange example. (McLaren’s “other” orange option)
While I can appreciate the Bruce McLaren motorsports tribute, I prefer the darker metallic color much more, especially with the CF roof.
Volcano orange and McLaren Racing Orange in the same studio lighting, respectively...

In the sun, that McLaren Racing Orange almost looks bright enough to be confused with Sicilian Yellow.
but in showroom lighting it presents differently.

New one is Papya Spark, old one was Elite Ventura Orange.

I’d have chosen Papaya Spark also, but with an MSO tan interior.
